Ms Peters’ 5th grade class read the book Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan. This book is about a girl who lives in Mexico and escapes to the United States with her Mama during the Great Depression after a devastating event in her family. They ended the unit with a celebration! There was food to represent every chapter of the book. They even made yarn dolls from the book!
