Ecosystems come ALIVE in a Shoebox!
JANET HARDEN

5th graders in Mrs. Henke's class made ecosystem shoeboxes. They are a hands-on science project where you build a miniature ecosystem inside a shoebox. It’s a popular classroom activity for learning about habitats, food chains, and environmental interactions. An Ecosystem Shoebox a 3D diorama representing an ecosystem, such as: Rainforest, Urban, Desert, Tundra, Ocean, Grassland, Pond/wetland, and Deciduous forest.  Inside the box, students place: Plants (paper, clay, plastic), Animals (drawings, mini figures, clay models), and Environmental features (rocks, water, soil, sand).
